They are handcrafted in Ripon, North Yorkshire, by the family-run bakery Sawley Kitchen. Founded in 2012, the bakery works in the traditional way with vintage family recipes, and this 125 g packet continues that approach in one of its flavoured shortbreads.
Set the biscuits on a small plate after lunch, open the packet for an unhurried afternoon pause, or pass them round when a visitor calls. Salted caramel makes them a good fit when plain shortbread feels a little too familiar.
